Hearing aids have come a long way in the last 10-15 years. Their processing speeds are much faster, they are programmed through a computer interface and the components have been miniaturized.
Hearing aids alone can’t fix every problem. When matched with different accessories, they can improve your ability to hear in the situations you most struggle, such as while talking on the phone, watching TV or trying to communicate in a crowded setting.

“Hello, I’m Isaac White. I’m a hearing aid dispenser at Elk Grove Hearing Care. I’d like to talk to you about more than just hearing aids, but what hearing aids have the capability of doing. These days, hearing aids aren’t always enough to fix every problem in our lives. We do have accessories or abilities with hearing aids that make things or difficult tasks, easier.
First, hearing aids come in all kinds of different sizes, and the size of the hearing aid doesn’t always determine the capability of the hearing aid. So if you need something small because we don’t want a lot of people to see it, they can be powerful hearing aids.
One of the best new features with hearing aids is rechargeability. A lot of people don’t like to mess with the daily task of opening and closing the battery door or the weekly task of changing the battery. Now, we can just take the hearing aids off, put them in the charger, let them charge overnight, take them off and put them on our ears and then we’re hearing well again. The ease of use has been improved with rechargeability.
One of the other new features we have is Bluetooth capability, streaming to phones. So, instead of holding your phone up to your ear, you’re able to Bluetooth directly to your phone and use your hearing aids as if they’re personal headsets. This also works with streaming music or streaming games.
One of the other features that hearing aids have nowadays is streaming TV. So, you’re able to hook up another external box to your TV and stream the TV directly into your hearing aids. Now you’re not raising the volume too loud for everyone else in the house especially for your loved ones.
If you have questions about how hearing aids can help you through your life, give us a call at Elk Grove Haring Care.”
